SVPW and the lead up to Take Back the Night!

TWO ACTIVIST ATTORNEYS and TWO ACTIVISTS - TOMORROW NIGHT:  A Great Opportunity to Talk Policy, Ethics, and the Law around supporting survivors of sexual assault here on campus.  

Advocacy, Activism, and Civil Disobedience 
in Sexual Violence Prevention and Response

Schedule:

7:00–7:30 pm - Food and welcoming 
I am planning to have vegetarian, and some vegan, snacks with a mind toward healthy.  However, tea and coffee will be available as well!

7:40- 8:20 pm  - Panel Speakers [about 7-10 minutes each, for 4 speakers]

8:20 - 9:45 pm - Participants’ Questions

Kerry Snodgrass
A senior at the U of O, Kerry has led in various capacities, including, but not limited to:
Membership on the Prevention and Education Committee, Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force;  Co-Founder of Survivor Empowerment Alliance, promoting the rights of survivors of sexual assault at the University of Oregon;  SEA represents students and community members who advocate for survivor's rights on campus.
She is also a Legislative Intern at Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon.  Kerry is former Chief of Staff, Associated Students of the University of Oregon.  She is an activist and an advocate for survivors, the environment, and social justice.  

Mike Quillan
Mike Quillin serves as the supervising attorney for the law school's Domestic Violence Clinic which provides comprehensive legal services to low-income survivors while educating Oregon law students. In this position, Mike represents survivors of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault, supervises and instructs students enrolled in the program and works closely with community partners to ensure the program's success.

Prior to becoming supervising attorney, Mike worked as a staff attorney for the Stop Violence Against Women Clinic Project, a collaborative program run through the Lane County Legal Aid and Advocacy Center in partnership with Womenspace, Oregon Law, Siuslaw Outreach Services and Sexual Assault Support Services. Mike is generous in spirit, especially in the cause of gender equity.

Cims Gillespie
A recent graduate of the U of O, and an activist and an advocate AND an ally for justice work at the U of O, Cims Gillespie currently serves in an interim role coordinating Back to Back.  Back to Back is the anti-hate and anti-discrimination campaign at Community Alliance of Lane County.  

Cims through Back to Back is going to be engaging in a community education campaign, starting with a movie showing of The Water Front and discussion about environmental racism, classism, and community action! This is an Earth week event on Friday, April 26th, at 630pm, at the CALC office. 
Look out for future actions, movies, and education classes featuring Anti-Oppression/Liberation 101.  And look for Cims wherever someone is speaking out against injustice.

Lauren Regan 
Lauren Regan recently defended her 800th activist. From forest activists and tar sands blockaders to the mentally ill, Regan has stood up for the rights of the outspoken and the disenfranchised from Oregon to Texas.

Lauren is the founder and executive director of the Civil Liberties Defense Center (CLDC), where she serves as our staff attorney as well. Ms. Regan operates a public interest law firm, The Justice Law Group, specializing in constitutional law, civil rights, and criminal defense. She is a founding board member and past president of the Cascadia Wildlands. She also serves as a Lane County Teen Court judge, Oregon State Bar Leadership Fellow, National Lawyers Guild, Eugene co-chair, and volunteers hundreds of hours a year to various progressive causes.  With her commitment, insight, and unparalleled work ethic, Lauren is a gift to animals, people, and planet earth.
